Removing Mandatory Fields in Signup Page

Hi,

How do I remove some of the mandatory fields (eg. Surname,Zipcode,Weburl) in the Affiliate Signup page, as well as in the 'Add Affiliate' option in the 'Affiliates' tab in Merchant Panel ? This is because I'd like to make the signup process easier for my potential affiliates, and not scare them away by asking for too much info at the start.

If possible,please give me a step-by-step guide on how to do this (screenshots wld be extremely helpful) as I'm a real newbie when it comes to php scripts and all that.

I found a thread related to the same problem here (http://forum.qualityunit.com/showthread.php?t=495&highlight=add+affiliate+mandatory+field), but I just couldn't understand it very well with my limited knowledge of php.

Never mind, I think I've found the way to do this already.

Solution on that post is not so good.

I recommend to use this one:

Go to merchant panel > tools > affiliate sign-up and disable your fields. Then these fields will be automatically hidden from the automatically generated signup form. If you want these changes in any other affiliate signup form, you have to remove a particular lines / fields manually.
